Dallas Raceway Rules
Any condition considered to be unsafe by Dallas Raceway track officials will be adequate grounds for barring or withdrawing a vehicle from participation in any event, until the fault has been remedied to the satisfaction of track officials. The decision of track officials will be considered final in all inspection or elimination protests or procedures. Tech Staff reserves the right to disqualify any car not meeting the rules or the spirit of the rules. Dallas Raceway Staff also reserves the right to make amendments to the rules at later dates.
All racers are required to comply with ALL CURRENT IHRA rules including chassis certification and licenses.
Conduct: Drivers and Crew members at an event shall conduct themselves according to the highest standards of behavior and sportsmanship, particularly in relation to other competitors and track officials, and in a manner that will not harm the reputation of the IHRA, Tulsa Raceway Park or the sport of Drag Racing. Failure to do so may result in penalties ranging from disqualification from the event to being banned from Dallas Raceway Park at the discretion of the Conduct Advisory Board. In addition to other offenses or violations of specific rules, each of the following shall be deemed a breach of the rules.
1. Reckless or dangerous driving, either on the course or in the pits.
2. Failure to obey any direction or order of an official.
3. Refusing to cooperate with, interfering with, or obstructing the actions of any Track Official in the performance of their duties.
4. Unsportsmanlike conduct.
5. Physical violence or verbal abuse towards any other participant, official or spectator at an event.
6. Bribery or attempts to bribe anyone connected with the event, and the solicitation of, acceptance of, or offer to accept a bribe
7. No burnouts in the pit area or return road.
8. When racing if you experience a problem with your car, please pull to the side of the track and stop. This will help keep fluids off of the racing surface.
9. COURTESY STAGING - is required for Bracket racers
10. TIME OUT - Once 3 bulbs are lit you have 10 SECONDS to stage before being timed out and receive a RED LIGHT
Coolers: Coolers are prohibited except for racers. Racers are permitted one cooler only and are not to take coolers out of the pit area during racing. Ice is available at the concession building. No one, including racers, are permitted to bring glass bottles into the facility. Vehicles may be inspected by gate personnel violations will be grounds for dismissal from race track property
Taillight: In any race after dark, each race vehicle must have at least one working taillight. THIS IS FOR YOUR SAFETY. Racers will get one warning for not having tail lights on. A second infraction of this rule will result in disqualification.
Vehicles: Drivers cannot change vehicles after eliminations start.
Passengers: At no time is a passenger allowed to be in a car making a pass.
Driver Credentials: All drivers must have a valid driver’s license, the only exceptions to this rule are in the JR dragster. All drivers must be licensed to their respective E.T.’s.
Tech Sheets: No tech sheets will be sold after the first round of eliminations has been completed.
Restricted Areas: No one under the age of 14 is allowed in the restricted areas, this includes the area from the water box to the starting line.
Excessive Braking: Anyone who locks up the brakes/smokes tires through the traps will be disqualified.
Pit bikes/scooters: No one under the age of 16 or anyone without a valid driver’s license is allowed to ride an ATV, golf cart, mini bike, scooter or bicycle in the pits. Pit vehicles must be marked with the same race number as the race car it is with. They are to be used only for tow vehicles or business related to racing. Improper use of these vehicles by driver, crew, family, or anyone else, may result in disqualification or expulsion from the facility and forfeiture of entry fees.
Speed Limits: The speed limit in the pit area and the return road is 10 mph.
Disqualifications: Disqualifications are made on a first or worst basis as per the IHRA rulebook. EXAMPLE: Crossing the centerline is considered worse than a red light. Since we cannot possibly cover all situations that may arise during eliminations, it is the race director’s responsibility to make a judgment call on disputed calls. If it becomes necessary to settle a dispute, the race director will speak with the drivers involved ONLY, not the crews, wives, husbands, etc.
Alcoholic Beverages: Any driver observed by track officials to be consuming any amount of alcohol while still in competition, will be disqualified from the event. No alcohol permitted in the staging lanes or on the starting line. Absolutely NO glass bottles or containers allowed at the facility.
Leash Rule: Any pets brought to the facility must be on a leash at all times. Pet owners will be asked not to bring the pet back if problems with the animal occur.
Shoes: Open toed shoes are not allowed while racing.
Tech Inspection : After a car has been inspected and is allowed to race, if a vehicle fails inspection, it will not be allowed to participate. The entry fee will be refunded less spectator admission, if applicable.
Protests: If a racer who is participating in an event suspects another competitor of cheating, the protestor must request the Tech Director do an inspection. Along with the request, an amount of $100 must be put up (given to the Tech Director) for the protest. The Tech Director has the final say, and outcome of the inspection is left up to the director’s discretion. If the accused is found to be cheating, the money will be returned to the protestor and the accused will be disqualified. They may also be expelled from the points program and loose all their points for the season. If the accused is not found to be cheating, they will be awarded the money and the protestor may be disqualified if the protest is deemed fraudulent at the discretion of the Tech Director. Protests can be made at any time. The inspection will be made after the completion of the next round. If a vehicle fails inspection, it will not be allowed to participate.
GOLF CARTS, SCOOTERS, BIKES, FOOT SCOOTERS
You must be 16 years and older to drive a motorized scooter/ATV/etc to assist parents
WITH PARENTS PERMISSION ONLY
You MUST have a drivers license to drive a golf cart or scooter.
The following will NOT BE ALLOWED:
NO BICYCLES OR FOOT SCOOTERS ALLOWED AFTER DARK BY ANYONE UNDER 16 PARENTS TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY & HAVE FULL LIABILITY. YOU MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE PROPERTY IN UNDER AGE CHILDREN ARE DRIVING!
Racers and patrons are RESPONSIBLE to know and follow all rules and apply to all types of racing and racers!!!No exceptions Zero tolerance policy in effect
Rain Out Policy
Rain delays are not considered a rainout.
Bracket Races: No Cash Refunds! If a rainout or cancellation occurs for any reason before eliminations begin pit crew rain checks will be issued. Car and driver credits will be issued to racers. Once eliminations begin, in the event of rain out or incompletion of the race, the race will be completed the following day if possible (depending on amount of rounds left rain checks will be issued). If completed the next week, the event becomes a new event and spectator rain checks will not be issued. If the race is unable to be finished, the winners from the last round will split the money. Amount and method of split is at the tracks discretion. For non-money classes, car and driver credits issued if rainout occurs before the first round of competition.
Test and Tune: No Cash Refunds! No rain checks once two hours of event time have been logged.
Feature Races: No Cash Refunds! NO Spectator and/or pit crew rain checks will be issued once feature cars have completed first elimination run. Feature race rain checks are good for make-up date only!
